The finished pond was rendered and the corners radiused to give better water flow around the pond and also make it easier to fibreglass as I intend to do this task myself.
Jumping the gun a little I have given the game away as you can now see I used bamboo screening to screen out my garage and also my decking over the filter area is almost done.
The next task was to build all that decking a real backbreaking job as I spent two days kneeling outside to complete this task and a further two days staining it all.
Incidentally the stain after a bit of research used was Cuprinol decking stain.
I checked with the manufacturer as to its suitability where fish are concerned and they said it is fine and safe when dry.
The decking continued and the pond nears completion.
Pavers were mitred to the shape of the wall around the filters and the remaining area around the pond will be green gravel.
Eventually I plan on adding a Japanese style summerhouse to complete my vision but funds are running out so it will have to wait.
The decking is up and the intake can be seen to the skimmer also the hinged lid over the wastewater drain can be seen.
The bamboo screening continues towards the house to cover up the fence that had been removed at the start of this project.
The brickwork selected was a Scottish brick that was similar to that used to build the house.

This website started with a
booklet which I made up originally for the help of those members of the BKKS
- South Wales Section who were intending to start building a koi pond, and as the website has expanded more information and articles from other people have been included. This
is for general guidance only, and we do not take any responsibility for problems
that might occur by following these ideas. It is important
that you check out everything in your area, and check on local laws and rules
that may apply.
