Ron from Cheshire had a koi pond at the bottom of the garden, but decided he would build a larger pond nearer the house so he could enjoy the koi more.
Attached to this page is 18 more pages describing in some detail how the pond was constructed.
The new pond is raised to a height of around 2`6" and is surrounded by a brick wall extending beyond the pond to provide a raised area for landscaping.
A pergola has been built over the pond to keep off the direct sunshine.
This view of inside the filter housing before it was completed shows the Nexus 300, the various pumps, and the sand filter.

This website started with a
booklet which I made up originally for the help of those members of the BKKS
- South Wales Section who were intending to start building a koi pond, and as the website has expanded more information and articles from other people have been included. This
is for general guidance only, and we do not take any responsibility for problems
that might occur by following these ideas. It is important
that you check out everything in your area, and check on local laws and rules
that may apply.
