I have loved ponds and koi since I was 14, when I had my first pond. It was a little goldfish pond with a couple of koi. When I turned 15 I wanted a bigger and better pond with a total size of 3,995 gallons.
My dream has come true, my father and I have built the pond. It is 11ft x 7ft x 6ft, which is massive compared to the other pond. The walls are 225mm thick, it was rendered and finally fibreglassed black.
Here is a picture of my Koi pond which in now complete, and only took 1 month as my Dad is a builder
This pond also contains some show quality koi from some of the top breeders of Niigata.
1 Shiro Utsuri.
3 Kohaku.
2 Sanke.
I have placed all my filters in the shed eg, Nexus, sandfilter, pumps etc.

This website started with a
booklet which I made up originally for the help of those members of the BKKS
- South Wales Section who were intending to start building a koi pond, and as the website has expanded more information and articles from other people have been included. This
is for general guidance only, and we do not take any responsibility for problems
that might occur by following these ideas. It is important
that you check out everything in your area, and check on local laws and rules
that may apply.
