Pond construction

Ron's pond 11. Rendering the walls

The walls after rendering Another view of the walls after rendering

Here, the first coat of render has been applied. A mix including Rein fibres was applied to the wall then smoothed off. The base was rendered after the walls were completed, remembering to replace the bungs in the bottom drains to prevent cement from running in and setting.

A bamboo screen has been erected along the back of the pond wall, the border between the screen and the pond will be filled with soil and planted at a later date. The same bamboo will be used to cover the pergola to provide the necessary shade to the pond shortly.

This website started with a booklet which I made up originally for the help of those members of the BKKS - South Wales Section who were intending to start building a koi pond, and as the website has expanded more information and articles from other people have been included. This is for general guidance only, and we do not take any responsibility for problems that might occur by following these ideas. It is important that you check out everything in your area, and check on local laws and rules that may apply.
