Hirasawa San, the owner of Marudo Koi, trained with the Dainichi company for many years before deciding to breed his own Koi. Many Dainichi parents are used for breeding.

Over recent years he has expanded his operation and built two other houses for tosai and tategoi in Ojiya. The material in the yellow beer bottle crates is Oyster shell, used to buffer the pH of a highly stocked pond containing recently harvested Koi.

He produces mainly Go-Sanke but other varieties can also be found. The quality of his Go-Sanke is especially apparent when viewing the larger sizes from three-years old and over. The above Koi are 2 and 3 yrs old.
ShowaSanke
He is particularly noted for the amazing Showa that he produces.

This website started with a booklet which I made up originally for the help of those members of the BKKS - South Wales Section who were intending to start building a koi pond, and as the website has expanded more information and articles from other people have been included. This is for general guidance only, and we do not take any responsibility for problems that might occur by following these ideas. It is important that you check out everything in your area, and check on local laws and rules that may apply.
