| A drain cock should be fitted in the lowest part of the system as possible so that all, or at least most, of the water can be drained away using a piece of hose. It could be argued that as it outside it could just be left to drain away, but as you will probably need to work in the area this would not be very satisfactory. | |

This shows another similar drain cock on another system. In both these cases the end of the drain cock fits into a 15mm socket. After the hose has been fitted then a shifting spanner is used on the square headed valve. |
