Fitting up the pressure/expansion vessel.

Fittings for expansion vessel

This photo shows the fittings on the pressure/expansion vessel after it has been secured in it's working position.
The flexible hose has been removed as it is only required when water has to be added to the system, and if there are no leaks this should be very rarely. It is advisable to release any air in the system and recharge the vessel say every six months.
The normal working pressure is 1.0 to 1.2 bar.

Expansion vessel assembly This shows the various parts that are supplied with the installation kit, and has to be purchased separately from the vessel. The silver coloured main body is fitted on to the threaded part of the vessel using ptfe tape. This can be tightened up, and it is not important in what position it is in as the bracket can be fitted anywhere around the circumference of the expansion vessel.
The yellow coloured component houses the safety relief valve. This can then be screwed on to the main body, again using ptfe tape, and the position is important as you need the pressure gauge to be facing to the front.
Finally , you need to fit the pressure gauge, and this must be fitted in an upright position. In this case a fibre washer was used, and the thickness was adjusted using a file until it was tight and in the correct position.

TIP. The glass on the pressure gauge can be easily broken, and the internals of the gauge can easily be damaged if knocked. It is therefore a good idea to leave the final fitting of the gauge until all the other work is completed.
